As founder of Kanam Foundation, she is not new in the philanthropy world. Barbara is known for her generous heart, her passion for children and as a strong advocate for women’s human rights and advancement. Barbara’s themes represent real people, life, struggles, pains and joys. She sings about God to whom she attributes her all being and exceptional talents. Barbara Kanam’s voice is one of the most beautiful African female voices. A winner of Kora Awards Most Promising Female Artist, Kunde D’Or, Tamani d’Or in 2003 and Black Music Awards in 2005. Barbara rose to fame in many African countries with the release of her first album “Teti”. A powerful statement that is calling for Life, Freedom, “No” to warfare, hatred, famine, violence, inequality, injustice and poverty. She is in tune with Shitowa’s mission.
