About Us

The history of the Shitowa Foundation:

Kaleba H. Ngoie-Kasongo, a native of Congo, DRC, founded our organization in 2006. She was inspired by three women in her life, her Aunties – Shimba and Waninga and her husbands aunt Tokyo. Please read their stories here.

Kaleba formed Shitowa Foundation to become an advocate for victimized women in Congo, DRC. The foundation is governed by women who share Kaleba’s passion to help women in Congo aspire to a hopeful future despite the incredible challenges they face everyday in their lives. Extreme poverty, illiteracy, life-limiting diseases and post-war devastating living conditions such as lack of fresh potable water and decent housing.

Kaleba’s parents, Mrs. Jean-Marie Ngoy and Mr. Jerome Ngoie direct a program that provides school tuition, supplies and uniforms for orphans and children with very limited resources since 1978. Kaleba along with her husband, Mr. Jean-Claude Kasongo, have joined Kaleba’s parents in their humanitarian efforts.
